Welcome to our website!
We love basketball in Portage and hope you do as well. If you are a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend, referee, community member or one of the youth in our program, our hope is that you will find this website very useful and informative. On the left side of the page, you will find a number of different categories to help you navigate around our website. We look forward to continuing to bring more and more to this website as our program continues to develop and grow.
History of our Program
There has been a youth basketball program in Portagesince the late 80's, when Hugh Roberts, from Randolph, came and spoke to the Portage Kiwanis Club. He helped us develop a program here in Portage very selflessly. With the support of the Kiwanis Club, Pastor Steve Corbett led the program for many years. The program was passed onto C. Martin Gavinski in the fall of 1999 and continued to be organized under the Portage Youth Sports program. In the fall of 2006, Portage Youth Basketball was formed and works within the Portage Youth Education Foundation.
Mission Statement
An opportunity for all children and their parents to respectfully participate in a program that emphasizes skill development while maintaining a focus on the joy of sports and competition.
As we begin a new journey using this website to enhance communication for the program, we would like to thank Brenda May from New Century Designers, Inc. Her efforts have gone up and beyond to make this the best ever!
